Pharmacogenomics
![]() |
Do you know?? An individual genetic inherence affects the body response to some drugs. Pharmacogenomics holds the promise that drugs might one day be tailor-made for individuals and adapted to each person's own genetic makeup. Environment, diet, age, lifestyle, and state of health all can influence a person's response to medicines, but understanding an individual genetic makeup is thought to be the key to creating personalized drugs with greater efficacy and safety. It has benefits such as more accurate methods of determining appropriate drug dosages, better and safer drugs at the first go, and lead to a decrease in the overall cost of healthcare |
Thai Herbal Medicine
![]() Diseases have always been a constant problem plaguing mankind since time memorial. Primitive man, and to a certain extent modern man, turned to black magic and supernatural power for remedies. It is real providence that the curative properties of some herbs had been discovered and exploited in early human history. Over the years the knowledge of herbal medicine has grown. In modern times, a wide range of herbs have been sought for their healing effects and used more and more, while the resort to black magic has been in a steady decline.
Thailand abounds with medicinal herbs and many of which have been successfully employed to cure the Thais of a wide range of sicknesses. Some herbs with mild medicinal values such as ginger, lemon grass, and bitter lemon are skillfully incorporated into traditional cuisine. |

Patient Counseling Event at Asia Pacific Pharmaceutical Symposium
Introduction: The patient counseling event (PCE) is an opportunity for students to develop their communication skills. It focuses on developing a trustful patient-pharmacist relationship as a part of the pharmaceutical care that is provided. Each participant will receive feedback regarding their counseling to assist them in developing effective techniques for the future. Students are highly recommended to participate as this will help them develop an effective structured routine to speak to counseling patients. By focusing on counseling rather than pharmaceutical knowledge for this event, it will demonstrate the importance of counseling to the students and its necessity in the practice of pharmacy.
